Mechanical Design Engineer
Working within the Mechanical Engineering Department, the position is to provide a range of mechanical engineering services to the company, often in support of a Project Engineer (Mechanical). This will necessitate duties performed either independently or as part of a project team in conjunction with members of the same and/or other departments.
The Design/ Draughting Engineer will be responsible for the production of the following from information supplied by the project engineer, Sales team, the client and collected during the course of the project, using CAD and Desk Top PC methods.
General Arrangement Drawings, Detail Drawings, Parts lists, Schematic Diagrams, Project documentation both for internal records and customer use (e.g. Operation Manuals), all to a production level, thus enabling the correct manufacture and assembly of components.
The following is a list of Project related tasks that the Design/ Draughting Engineer will be expected to have input into or be involved in:
Attend internal meetings both project and company related,
Discuss mechanical project specifications/requirements with other disciplines such as Software and Electrical
Maintain project files and all related documentation,
Source and specify bought-out components,
Discuss requirements with suppliers,
Support the manufacturing of components both in house and sub-contract, assist when required in the setting up, testing and development of equipment,
Be involved in customer meetings
From time to time you may be called upon to visit a customer's site to support, service or diagnose faults within a machine.
Occasionally some hands on assistance will be required during the build, development and commissioning phases of projects.
