Warranty Engineer

PURPOSE:
Manage all projects warranty processes, with the objective of ensuring all databases, material inventory and financial recovery are up to date and necessary reporting is provided to company managers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Acting as the Companies representative in all warranty issues, including commercial, technical liaison, meetings, and reporting to the company and supply chain during the warranty phase of all projects undertaken by the company.
Measurement of day to day activities and progress.
Evaluating and identifying risks to programmes and agreeing mitigations and/or recovery plans as appropriate.
Develop and improve measures and KPI monitors, publish information to give visibility of the warranty process to other members of the team.
Regular review meetings with customers and suppliers creating minutes of meeting and monitoring agreed actions.
Ensure issues of difficulty are properly discussed and actions allocated to individuals to close out.
Manage Relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors, both internal and external

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Reporting in a standard format, including key issues, action holders, close out statements and dates.
Ensure that the resources, processes and controls are in place to ensure that the materials are delivered to the agreed timescales.
Having up to date data on warranty status.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal
Report to Operations Manager.
Strong working relationships with team members especially Project Managers, QHSE Department and Purchasing and Logistics Department.



External
Maintain good relationships with industry customers.
The company's supply base.

DECISION MAKING
Decisions in relation to successful material delivery and warranty claim closure.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Ideally experienced in warranty administration in a rail environment.
Minimum 2 years experience in this or a similar role.

KNOWLEDGE:
Reasonable level of UK rail industry rolling stock knowledge and understanding of rail vehicle systems.
Good knowledge of Management processes and tools.
Commercial awareness.
Team worker.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Good level of competency in Microsoft tools.
Good time management, planning and organisation skills.
Good communication skills both written and verbal. Able to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels.
