Syntax's Software Development Apprentice Scheme

9th Apr 2013

The first Midlands based Software Development Apprenticeship scheme...

In 2012 Syntax had great success in taking part in an IT apprenticeship programme which culminated with us offering a full time position to Eric Riley as a Technical Support Engineer in our IT Services division. Eric also won a national award in recognition of his commitment to the apprenticeship programme.

However it soon became apparent that Eric’s real ambition was to be a software developer, luckily we were able to transfer him to our software development team and provide him with a senior developer as a mentor.

This bought into focus the fact that there is no current scheme available.

Syntax have partnered with Remit IT Academy and Microsoft to address this and will be holding a forum to help shape the content of the course and what skills and knowledge the Apprentices will come out with.

The forum will be about sharing knowledge and ideas, and what you feel would be of use to the industry as a whole in the future. The course will then be developed around this.

At the end of our scheme the apprentices will have the right balance of academic exposure, professional experience and a selection of Microsoft certifications in Software Development (MCP’s) and be on their way becoming Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD).

Syntax is committed to supporting the development of the next generation of Software Developers. These young professionals will be the future of our region’s development industry and could be team members or yours in years to come!

This is not a profit seeking exercise for Syntax but it is something that we are very passionate about.

We will keep you update on progress.
