Continued success for Syntax’s Kickboxing British and World champion Gwilym Walker

Earlier this month Gwilym Walker (32), a Recruitment Consultant in Syntax’s Technical Engineering recruitment team, competed in BKC Nationals, which was held in Birmingham on Sunday 1st September.  




The British Kickboxing Council (BKC) is the most influential Sport Martial Arts body in the country, comprising of British representatives from some of the largest Kickboxing and Sport Karate organisations in the world.


He did extremely well in the competition and competed in 5 fights to get to the final.

Gwilym won a gold medal beating the current (2012) WAKO World Silver medallist



Whats next for Gwilym?

“I am hoping to attend the 11th Annual WAKO Italian International which will be held in Telgate Italy on November the 2nd - 3rd 2013.

WAKO competitions always attract the highest standard of fighter. Competitors travel from all over the world to compete, so its s fight I’m particularly looking forward to”



Kick Boxing CV:

  • Gwilym Walker from Belper won the world title at the World Kickboxing Championships in Holland in November after taking a long break from the sport.
  • He began kickboxing 16 years ago but decided to take a break from the sport when he relocated from Yorkshire to Derbyshire to be with girlfriend Lois, who is now his wife.
  • He worked as a personal trainer and in customer service before moving into the recruitment industry and joined Syntax 18 months ago – specialising in engineering and technical recruitment.
